The NOVA 300 Pneumatic Snap Elongation Tester performs the “Sudden Jerk” elongation test according to NEMA-MW1000 specifications. The tester uses compressed air to “snap elongate” the 10-inch (25.4cm) long wire specimen to the desired percent of elongation. The test determines the adhesion characteristics of the magnet wire insulation to the conductor. The percent elongation is easily adjustable from 1 % to 50 %. The moving jaw is set to the desired ‘snap elongation’ speed through the valve assembly. The valve assembly ensures a consistent and repeatable test. A series of pneumatic valves and a polycarbonate safety shield protects the operator.
The Speed Display Module (standard on NOVA 310) indicate the test speed of the snap elongation (sudden jerk) in meters per second. The test speed displayed by the speed display module allows the operator to more precisely fine-tune the test speed with respect to the wire size by adjusting the air pressure supply.
