The NOVA 600 Scrape Abrasion Tester determines the scrape abrasion resistance of magnet wire insulation.The loaded scrape head reciprocates at a rate of 60 cycles per minute (1 forward and backward stroke is 1 cycle) and a stroke length of 3/8 inch (10mm). The wire sample is rotated through 0°, 120° and 240° after each test, allowing 3 scrape tests per sample. This procedure also helps to determine any eccentricity of the insulation on the wire. When the scrape needle exposes the bare conductor, the tester stops and the number of cycles is recorded on the digital counter.
