The NOVA 700 Continuous Loading Unilateral Abrasion Tester determines the scrape abrasion resistance of magnet wire insulation according to NEMA MW-1000 specifications. The scrape head applies an increasing load to the magnet wire insulation until a fault occurs. If a fault is not detected, the load applied to the scrape head is doubled at the end of the scrape head travel. The scrape head speed is set at 16 inches per minute (41cm per minute). The wire sample is rotated through 0°, 120° and 240° after each test, allowing 3 scrape tests per sample. This procedure also helps to determine any eccentricity of the insulation on the wire. The modular design, precision components, and sturdy construction of the tester provides reliability, accuracy, and repeatability.
